About the Artist
Ronno L Cooke makes furniture the old fashioned way, using dowels, mortise and tenon and dovetailed joints, solid woods and hand rubbed finishes.  Working from his studio in the South Mountains of western North Carolina he seeks to make pieces that will become heirlooms, passed down from one generation to the next.  Contrasting wood colors and textures, exposed joinery, a solid link to woodworking techniques thousands of years old ,  a flair for design and the willingness to chart new territory with his work lends to the "neo-primitive" style that his work embraces and creates.  Each piece is a unique handcrafted work of art.  He uses no patterns or templates, just his hands and his imagination, to craft each  piece, one at a time.  His work has been featured by the Burke Arts Council, the Historic Morganton Festival, the Foothills Conservancy  and can be purchased only through select finer galleries.
A member of Handmade in America, he has been selected through a jury process to design and build the dining room table and living room coffee table for a showcase home at Biltmore Forest, a cooperative effort with Biltmore Forest developers called 'the Handmade House at the Ramble' in Asheville, NC, adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Biltmore House.  Custom Woodworking Business Magazine will be running a feature article on his work in the February 2008 issue. Ronno is currently working on several projects for internationally known developer and designer John Turchin.   He  is diligent about using sustainable or reclaimed wood sources, and environmentally friendly finishes.  Ronno resides in Burke County, NC beside the South Mountain State Park with his wife Tracy, a talented stained glass and graphic artist.  His work is 100% guaranteed.
